1. About the Spiring $0 Bills Plan & Payment

What is the Spiring $0 Bills Plan?

The Spiring $0 Bills Plan is an all-in-one home energy solution that combines a premium battery system, professional installation, and participation in our Virtual Power Plant. It is designed to help eligible households reduce their electricity bills to $0 for a full year, with additional community rewards.

What does the plan include?

The plan includes:
1. A high-quality home battery system
2. Professional installation completed within 45 days
3. Participation in Spiring’s Virtual Power Plant program
4. Coverage of your electricity usage up to your selected plan limit (5,000, 8,000, or 10,000 kWh per year)

How does $0 Bills work?

$0 Bills is achieved through participation in our Virtual Power Plant program.

When you join the VPP, your home battery is intelligently managed as part of a shared energy network. In return, eligible household electricity consumption is covered through the program.

To achieve $0 Bills:
1. Customers must participate fully in our VPP program
2. Customers agree to forgo individual VPP dispatch rights
3. Annual electricity usage must stay within the selected plan limit (5,000, 8,000, or 10,000 kWh)

$0 Bills is not paid in cash and applies only to electricity usage charges on your energy bill.

When does my $0 Bills coverage start?

The Spiring $0 Bills Plan coverage begins once your battery system is fully installed, connected to the grid, and commissioned in the VPP.
For customers completing installation and commissioning before 1 March 2026, coverage starts on 1 March 2026.
For customers completing installation and commissioning after 1 March 2026, coverage starts on the actual commissioning date.
Signing up or paying a deposit alone does not trigger coverage.

Why choose the Spiring $0 Bills Plan instead of just buying a battery?

The Spiring $0 Bills Plan goes beyond hardware ownership. It includes installation, VPP participation, and guaranteed electricity bill coverage up to your plan limit. Purchasing a battery alone does not provide these benefits or access to the $0 Bills program.

Why do I need to pay a $100 deposit?

The $100 deposit secures your plan price, reserves system allocation, and locks in your installation priority.

How do deposits and final payment work?

Here’s deposits and final payment step by step:

1. $100 refundable deposit
You place a $100 deposit to secure your plan, equipment allocation, and installation availability.

2. Installation assessment
Our installation team will contact you to review your home setup and confirm installation feasibility.

3. 50% installation deposit
If everything is confirmed and you’re happy to proceed, you’ll be asked to pay a 50% installation deposit.

4. Installation date confirmed
Once the 50% deposit is received, we will confirm and lock in your installation date.

5. Final 50% payment
The remaining 50% balance is paid after installation is completed and all required checks and documentation are issued.

When do I pay the remaining balance?

The remaining balance is only payable after your site assessment is approved and before installation is scheduled. If your home is found unsuitable, your deposit is fully refunded.

Does the Spiring $0 Bills Plan cover Daily Supply Charges and Demand Charges?

This plan covers usage charges only. Standard Daily Supply Charges and any applicable Demand Charges are not included and will appear on your bill.

How is $0 Bills applied to my electricity bill?

Worked examples of how the rebate is calculated
Example 1 — Monthly consumption exceeds plan limit
Plan details:
Customer is under an Eco Spiring Plan
Monthly Energy Limit: 416.67 kWh
Actual monthly usage:
Total power used: 500 kWh
Solar energy generated and used on-site: 200 kWh
Balance purchased from the grid: 300 kWh
Rebatable Consumption calculation:
Rebatable Consumption = 416.67 kWh − 200 kWh
Rebatable Consumption = 216.67 kWh
Rebate value calculation:
Service Provider charges: 33c per kWh for grid usage
Rebatable Sum = 216.67 kWh × 33c
Rebatable Sum = $71.50
Then the Rebatable Consumption would be 216.67 kWh (416.67 kWh − 200 kWh).
Assuming the Service Provider charges 33c per kWh for grid usage, provided the other conditions are met, the Rebatable Sum would be $71.50 being 216.67 kWh × 33c.

Example 2 — Monthly consumption below plan limit

Plan details:
Customer is under an Eco Spiring Plan
Monthly Energy Limit: 416.67 kWh
Actual monthly usage:
Total power used: 300 kWh
Solar energy generated and used on-site: 200 kWh
Balance purchased from the grid: 100 kWh
Rebatable Consumption calculation:
Rebatable Consumption = 100 kWh
Rebate value calculation:
Service Provider charges: 33c per kWh for grid usage
Rebatable Sum = 100 kWh × 33c
Rebatable Sum = $33.00
If the same Customer consumes a total of 300 kWh of power during a calendar month, of which 200 kWh was generated by the solar energy system installed and the balance was purchased from the grid, then the Rebatable Consumption would be 100 kWh.
At 33c per kWh for grid usage, the Rebatable Sum would be $33.00 being 100 kWh × 33c.

2. Eligibility & Application

Who can apply?

This program is open to homeowners who meet the following criteria:

1. You are a residential, non-ABN customer located in Australia
2. You own the property or have legal rights to install the system
3. You have an existing solar PV system of at least 5 kW
4. You have not previously received any government battery rebate for this property. (This does not include solar rebates such as STCs.)
5. The property is not enrolled in another VPP or demand response program
6. No one at the property relies on the system for life-support or critical medical needs

Is this program available in my area?

This program is currently available only in Australia (check our installation coverage here: https://bit.ly/49Tq8qq). We plan to expand to other markets in the future—please stay tuned for updates.
Please note that additional charges may apply for installations in remote or regional areas, depending on transportation requirements and installation complexity at your specific location.
For exact availability and any potential additional costs, please contact our online customer support or email us at contact@spiringenergy.com.

How many plans can each customer purchase?

Only one plan can be applied per property. If a customer owns multiple properties, a separate plan may be applied to each eligible property.
Each customer may purchase up to two Spiring $0 Bills Plans in total.
This limit is due to limited plan availability and to ensure fair access for all households.

Can I participate if I don’t have a solar system?

No. Eligibility requires an existing, fully operational solar system of at least 5 kW that meets Clean Energy Council (CEC) standards.

How do I know if my solar photovoltaic (PV) modules are compliant?

To check whether your solar PV modules are compliant, we recommend using the Clean Energy Council (CEC) Approved Products List.
1. Search the product list
Use the search bar on the page to enter either:
The manufacturer (brand) name, or
The exact model number of your solar PV module

2. Check the approval status
Each product will show one of the following statuses:
Approved
The module is currently approved, meets CEC requirements, and is eligible for government rebates.
Expired / De-listed
The module was previously approved but is no longer valid. Systems using these modules are not eligible for rebates.

3. Confirm the exact model number
Make sure the model number matches exactly, including any suffix letters.
Manufacturers may release updated versions with slightly different model numbers (for example, changing from 370W-H to 370W-HB).
If the updated model number does not appear on the approved list, it will be considered non-compliant, even if the difference seems minor.

3. Installation & Service

When do I pay the remaining balance?

The remaining balance is only payable after your site assessment is approved and before installation is scheduled. If your home is found unsuitable, your deposit is fully refunded.

How long does installation take?

The installation for the Spiring Energy system is completed within 45 days from the date your site assessment is approved, all required documentation is completed, and the 50% installation deposit has been received.

Does the installation fee cover all locations?

Standard installations are included in all plans at no extra cost. For remote or hard-to-reach locations, a site assessment may be required and any additional costs will be clearly quoted before proceeding.

What battery system will be installed?

A premium 10 kW/53.2 kWh battery system sourced from Tier-1 battery suppliers with over a decade of proven energy storage experience in Australia.

4. VPP, Community & Rewards

What is a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)?

Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of home solar and battery systems that are digitally connected and intelligently dispatched to work together. By coordinating energy generation, storage, and grid support across many households, a VPP operates more efficiently than individual systems and helps support grid stability. This coordination helps optimise energy use and unlock shared benefits for participating households.

Can I stay on my current electricity plan and still qualify for the $0 Bills Promise?

Currently, we offer a learning period for new customers, allowing you to keep your current electricity contract.
To be eligible for the $0 Bills Promise, you must join Spiring Energy by 30 June.
If you do not migrate by this date, the $0 Bills Promise will no longer apply from the following month.

Can I exit the VPP later?

Yes. You may exit the VPP, but this will end your eligibility for the Spiring $0 Bills Plan benefits.

What does “Beyond $0 Bills” mean?

$0 Bills is the starting point. As the Spiring VPP community grows, increased scale allows for stronger system performance and shared benefits beyond basic bill coverage.

How does community participation generate extra rewards?

A larger VPP fleet improves grid value and operational efficiency, allowing Spiring to generate greater returns that can be shared with participating households.

How do hardware and software work together to maximize benefits?

Spiring custom-optimises battery EMS and BMS software to work seamlessly with our VPP platform, improving real-world performance and dispatch efficiency.

What role does AI play in the VPP?

AI-driven algorithms forecast energy usage, market conditions, and battery behaviour in real time to optimise dispatch decisions and overall system performance.
